Course Description
“I completed the Security Supervisory Management course with ICSE in May 2014 and work for me has never been better. The knowledge I learned from the course gave me a better understanding of how the management side of security works and it also gave me great confidence and to go about completing my day to day jobs and tasks.

As a direct result osec-guardf competing the course I have been promoted to site recruitment officer and training leader working under my supervisor and management within the company and Human Resources Dept. My new role involves putting together new training methods and identifying new training needs for the staff on site. In Sept I have been put forward to be assistant site supervisor, all based on the knowledge, skills and experience I gained from the course.

Every day I use information I learned on the course in doing my work more effectively. This has cut out time wasted looking into solutions to problems. So again many thanks to the teams there in ICSE….Getting the point across that this course is brilliant for any supervisor in the security industry or thinking of being a supervisor, as training becomes compulsory, would be my main thing I would say. The confidence it gives you is massive as well. I can’t recommend the course and team at ICSE highly enough”

Niall Dempsey Security Supervisory Management, Distinction.

Who is this course for?

This programme is traditionally completed by those at supervisory level within their organisation or the Irish Private Security Industry. Many candidates also attend that have experience within the sector and feel its time for them to move on to more senior positions within their organisation or within the industry. On completion of the training programme, participants will have developed the knowledge and skills required by those engaged in or wishing to progress to management level within a security company or department.

Successful candidates will gain an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a supervisor as well as techniques for training and assessing staff. Trainees on this programme also develop their skills in delivering assignments, staff welfare and operational supervision.

Requirement

In the standard For the licensing of Door Supervisors (Licensed Premises) and Security Guard (Static) Contractors (PSA 28-2013) published by the Private Security Authority section 5 deals specifically with training requirements. Section 5.8 details the training required by supervisors and management.

“5.8 Supervisory and Management Training
5.8.1 Subject to PSA requirements and any associated guidelines, the organisation shall ensure that all operational supervisory and management staff receives documented training in consideration of their position and responsibilities”. (PSA 28-2013, p21).

ICSE’s QQI level 6 award in Security Supervisory Management meets these requirements for Supervisors.

Course Duration

QQI level 6 courses are comprised of 150 hours learning. Of this, 50 hours is direct contact between the trainer and learner. The balance is allocated towards home study by the learner.

This course duration allows the participants the correct amount of time to complete the required self-directed aspect of the programme.
