Mark Toner M.Ed FIITD
Mark has been involved in the security industry for over 20 years. He holds a first class honours degree in education as well as a Masters in Education, Training and Development, from Bradford University. His masters thesis explored the real training needs of door staff in modern day Ireland. Mark is certified to train door and guarding staff in England and Ireland to the levels required for licensing by both countries. Mark is a certified security trainer with FAS and Conflict Management instructor with Edexcel. He is also a certified trainer with the Non Violent Crisis Prevention Institute and Maybo in the UK.
In 2006, Mark left his position as Director of Training and Development for an international security provider and established ICSE. He retains operational experience supervising crowds in excess of 60,000, at large concerts and sporting events. He has worked with a number of leading Irish event security companies over the past few years, training literally thousands of security staff. His instructional training DVD “Stop it on the Door” is widely available and used to train door security personnel not alone in Ireland but in America, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, as well as other countries in Europe.
Mark regularly provides expert witness testimony in High Court cases involving incidents in the night time economy on behalf of night clubs, pubs and their security operatives. Mark also sits on the Private Security Authority (PSA) Licensing & Training Committee Advisory Group 2013/14. The purpose of the consultative group is to consider future training requirements for the door and static security guarding sectors of the private security industry in Ireland.
Tony has extensive experience in the security industry, having worked in it for almost 20 years. Tony has vast practical retail security experience and has worked for some of the biggest retailers in the country. He has worked as a uniformed and plain-clothes store detective, and also as a door man for over 12 years. He has worked in a supervisory role with some of the country’s best known security companies and led teams of personnel in all sectors including event, retail and door security.
Within the event sector Tony has led staff at major events and venues such as Oxegen, Electric Picnic, Slane and Croke Park. In addition Tony has worked at a high level in hotel security where he worked for top Irish hotels on a contract basis, including Jury’s and Marriot Hotel groups.
Using the experience he gained, Tony established his own security company and for several years provided security staff for many of the biggest concerts and sporting events in Ireland. Tony’s company also provided security for some of the country’s top receivers, and he worked on many high-profile and sensitive cases as the economy began to decline. Tony is a certified security trainer and ICSE’s Occupational First Aid trainer. Tony also holds awards from Maybo in delivering Conflict Management and Disengagement, and Assault Avoidance.
Tony has worked in every sector of the Irish security industry over the past 15 years including door, event, hotel, industrial and retail. His retail security experience, however, sets him apart. He has worked in retail security for companies such as Tesco, HMV, Aldi, Heatons, Elverys, Smyths Toys, etc. Operating at a high level he quickly rose through the ranks, and was the loss prevention manager for a well known international high street brand and their stores along the entire western seaboard.
Among his suite of security qualifications Tony has completed Aggression Diffusion and Conflict Management courses with the Crisis Prevention Institute, IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) certificate in managing safety, Hi-jack management courses, ASAA foundation and intermediate certificate in handgun use, identity theft and fraud course, Maybo level 2 and level 4 conflict management and physical intervention trainers course, Introduction to risk management and internal auditing course.
In addition Tony has been involved in martial arts for the past 18 years and is a 1st Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 1st Dan black belt in Aikido. He has also trained in Judo, Freestyle wrestling, Muay Thai, Boxing, Krav Maga and Mixed Martial Arts.
The newest member of the ICSE team Tony Davis is one of the most respected and well known security trainers in the country. At the forefront of developing the private security industry in the North West, through his company NSTA, Tony has been involved in setting standards since before the introduction of licensing.
Tony has worked in the Irish Private Security Industry for over 20 years. In that time his career has been varied and extensive. He has worked in all sectors but operationally specialised in site, retail, nightclub, event & body guarding. He has also worked as a security consultant for numerous companies in Ireland and as an expert witness in legal cases.
Tony has worked operationally in Ireland, UK, Europe, and the USA and brings this invaluable experience into the class room. Recognised by the Private Security Authority (PSA) as a key stake holder in the security industry Tony was requested to sit on the Private Security Authority (PSA) Licensing & Training Committee Advisory Group 2013/14. Tony is a certified Security Industry Trainer and holds qualifications from NUI Galway, FETAC/QQI and City & Guilds in training and risk management. He is certified to train Door Supervisor, Security Guard and Close Protection (Bodyguard) courses in England and Ireland. In addition, Tony has been involved in martial arts for the past 15 years.
Paul is one of the most respected and valued security operatives working in the West of Ireland today. Paul began working in the Security Industry in the mid-1990s. Over the following years he gained extensive experience in the Door, Event, Retail and Static security sectors.
Pauls is a widely known and respected door supervisor with over 18 years experience in front line door security for pubs and clubs throughout the country. Paul has managed security teams at some of Ireland’s premier entertainment venues and high profile corporate events including Oxegen, Slane, Marley Park, The O2 and Galway Races. In addition Paul has organised Stadium Security operations for clients from the League of Ireland, English Premier League and the FAI. In the retail sector, his experience includes six years on the security team in one of Ireland’s biggest shopping centres as well as time with a number of multi-national retailers.
Paul has a diverse background in martial arts and combat systems and holds a 1st Dan Black Belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. He has completed training in Tactical Firearms and CQB Tactics, Air Crew Security, Passenger Profiling, Hijack Management, Conflict Management and Supervisory Management. Having attained his Train the Trainer qualification in 2006 Paul has been involved in the security training sector since then developing a reputation as a highly respected and experienced trainer. Paul has delivered a diverse range of security training include security guarding, door supervisor procedures, conflict management and personal safety across a range of sectors
